Explore more than 30 acres of beautiful gardens surrounding Blue Spring Heritage Center and see big cats in naturalized habitats at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. Photograph majestic waterfalls in the Buffalo River National Park on trails named Lost Valley and Hemmed-in-hollow. Hike under showy dogwoods in the spring at Withrow Springs as War Eagle Creek runs beside you and pause long enough to explore War Eagle Cave. See the stone dam by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s and cool off in the swimming pool overlooking Lee Lake at Devil’s Den State Park.

Mountain Biking

You don’t have to be a hardcore biker to appreciate the legendary and epic mountain trails near Eureka Springs. Bikers and spectators come from all over for area sporting events like the Fat Tire Festival and The Eurekan Multi-Sports Festival. Don’t think you can stand the competition, Pea Ridge National Military Park offers a level bike path. While you are there you can learn more about America’s sesquicentennial and jump off your bike to stand at one of the documented stops belonging to the historic trail of tears.


Roaring River State Park spring and trout hatchery is an angler’s favorite with premier trout, rolling green hills, and convenient cleaning stations. Catch record stripers and bass in Beaver lake or fish for brown and rainbow trout in the White River.


Arkansas is home to nearly 2,000 documented caves. Eureka Springs is centrally located near half of the Arkansas caves open to the public. Onyx Cave is the easiest cave to explore.  Discover the Ozarks' largest underground lake in Cosmic Cavern, see a 28 foot “pipe organ” formation in Mystic Cavern and discover a cave as the Indians did hundreds of years before European explorers arrived at War Eagle Cavern are just a short drive away. All of these are living caves which means that cave features are still forming. Caves stay the perfect temperature all year round.
